paula J. shaw

Paula has been singing and playing musical instruments since she was 6 years old. Already accomplished on the flute and oboe, she started playing the guitar at 13 and began writing music and performing only a short time after that. She performed at shows and events throughout high school and college and began singing professionally at age 19 in Shreveport, La. Her greatest musical influences were Judy Collins, Joan Baez, John Denver and Dan Fogelberg.

Paula sang at venues in the south and continued writing and singing while she raised two boys, pursued business interests, a masters degree in environemtnal managemnent, and law school. You can hear, in songs like "Little Man" and "Children's Prayer," that her children were a great inspiration for her music. You can also hear the threads of her life in Texas and her love of horses and the southwest in songs like "Buckskin Jacket," "Promised Land" and "Cheyenne Run."

In addition to her musical accomplishments, Paula is a successful environmental attorney practicing in New York. She brings her life experiences and musical gifts together to create inspiring performances for many types of venues, special meetings, and events across the country. Her newest CD is set to be released in Summer 2010.

Every day is a renewal of her passion for sharing her songs with an ever-widening audience and reaching people with her special messages and stories through her music. She is an inspired songwriter: creating visual and moving stories in beautiful songs that inspire all types of audiences.
